Ana Gabriela Fisher is a screen and prose writer based in North Carolina.
After realizing she wanted to be a writer from the second she could read, Gabriela began her pursuits through various short story competitions on free fiction platforms in middle and high school. She wrote for two digital magazines, Obscur Media and Scratch Cinema, throughout her final year of high school. Both magazines focused on film reviews and analysis, inspiring Gabriela to attend the UNC School of the Arts, majoring in filmmaking with a concentration in screenwriting. During those four years of intensive, conservatory-style classes, she honed many skills, including screenwriting, editing, pitching, building pitch decks, on-set work, and collaboration.
At UNCSA, she show-ran a limited web series, hosted an interview with Ted Lasso director Erica Dunton, wrote various feature and short-length films, and wrote four short scripts selected to be produced at UNCSA.
Studying under her mentors Alexandre Moratto (7 Prisoners, Socrates) and Laura Hart McKinney (Men Against Women), she’s eager to write stories about the quiet horrors of womanhood, the delicious revenge we shouldn’t want, and the beauty of a good scream.
